THE
CHARLIE 'DYNAMITE' CHANDRAN MEMORIAL RUN
VENUE: ROYAL SELANGOR CLUB - ANNEXE, BUKIT KIARA, KUALA LUMPUR
TIME: 4.30PM
DATE: NOVEMBER 23RD, 2002
Dear Fellow Hashers, 4x4 Enthusiasts & Friends,
The sad news of the recent demise of our dear friend and fraternal brother
Charlie 'Dynamite' Chandran has probably reached you already.
For those not in the know, Charlie was tragically killed in a traffic accident
in the early hours of Friday, October 25th, 2002 while driving home.
Charlie started his hashing career in 1992. In the decade that follows, Charlie
has earned the respect and adulation of hashers the world over with his
irrepressible enthusiasm and commitment to all things to do with hash and
hashing. In the process, he thus earned the most apt hash name of 'Dynamite'.
Charlie was a member of six regular hashes and two occasional ones. He served in
various capacities in many hash clubs and was also actively involved in the
organization of many hash events, both locally and in the international arena.
He was part of the organizing committees of Interhash '98 in Kuala Lumpur as
well as Interhash Goa 2002, at both events he was Master Of Ceremonies.
He was also actively involved with numerous other clubs like the 4 X 4 and
certain sport sections of the Royal Selangor Club. He epitomizes the notion of
the
true blue hasher, if ever there was one.
For the innumerable contributions he made to hashing, hash clubs around the
Klang Valley found it fit that a special event should be convened in homage to
his
memory. A band of representative hashers that met on October 29th, 2002, have
decided to organize this Charlie 'DYNAMITE' Chandran Memorial & Fund Raising Run
on November 23rd, 2002, 4.30pm at the RSC Annex in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
This event will also double up as a fund-raising function in aid of his family.
We invite all of you to attend this event. Those who are unable to attend it
for whatever reasons are invited to contribute by pledging their contributions.
